A robust and efficient model for transmission of surface plasmon polaritons onto metal–insulator–metal apertures

Abstract A simple yet accurate model for the transmission of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) in a finite metal–insulator–metal (MIM) waveguide to sides apertures is proposed and demonstrated be more than available models. It as using magnetic current density across plane aperture whose value defined by SPPs with any number modes through equivalence principle. Then, generated on both are extracted from convolution integral equivalent Green’s function. As result, provides coefficients MIM side walls accurately efficiently; not only symmetric waveguides single isolating layer but also non-symmetric ones multi-layered insulating materials. The results very good agreement those obtained finite-difference time-domain method better other approximations literature wide range widths.
